Pottawatomie County Economic Development Corporation (PCEDC) was recognized with three awards during the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) Annual Conference, October 12-16, 2020.
PCEDC facilitates economic development activities for the region and is one of the co-founding members of the Greater Manhattan Economic Partnership (GMEP). The IEDC is a non-profit, non-partisan membership organization serving economic developers. With more than 5,000 members, IEDC is the largest organization of its kind.
PCEDC was recognized with silver awards for its annual report, which summarizes the economic development organization’s annual activities and fiscal highlights, and for its multi-year economic development program, which included two five-year implementation plans, several annual reports, and an economic impact analysis of three industrial parks. The organization was also recognized with a bronze entrepreneurship award for a set of 30-second videos highlighting key small businesses in the county.
Terry Force, president of PCEDC, said these awards demonstrate that the progress the organization has made in recent years to increase its visibility and results.
"The Pottawatomie County Board of Directors is honored to receive these highly prestigious awards from IEDC,” Force said. “The entrepreneurship award proves we have enhanced our visibility in building an entrepreneurship ecosystem, and multi-year program award demonstrates the significant positive economic impact PCEDC has on jobs, growth, income and wealth in our cities and Pottawatomie County.”
IEDC's Excellence in Economic Development Awards recognize the world's best economic development programs and partnerships, marketing materials, and the year's most influential leaders. The awards honor organizations and individuals for their efforts in creating positive change in urban, suburban, and rural communities and are judged by a diverse panel of economic and community developers from around the world.
IEDC received over 500 submissions from four countries. PCEDC entries were judged against other entries for organizations representing areas with under 25,000 in population.
