WTC recently announced it will be expanding broadband services throughout the City of Manhattan. Headquartered in nearby Wamego, Kansas, WTC provides voice, internet and video services to residential, governmental, educational and commercial clients.
The company first broke ground in Manhattan in 2016 for its initial fiber buildout — one of the largest projects in its history. During that time, WTC worked to bury fiber throughout downtown, Aggieville and Grand Mere neighborhoods as well as around various apartment complexes around town.
By 2021, WTC was proudly serving 830 business customers and hundreds of apartment residents in Manhattan. Since then, they’ve also implemented services for the Manhattan Regional Airport and the Blue Hills Shopping Center.
While the high-speed broadband company has had roots in our community for many years, the new $50 million internet access expansion project will allow for fiber availability across the entirety of Manhattan.
In a climate where remote work, online schooling and telehealth services are becoming the norm, access to reliable fiber broadband internet is essential.
According to Jason Smith, Manhattan Chamber of Commerce president and CEO, upgrading fiber is a strategic investment in the economic well-being and overall development of the community.
“We are thrilled about the WTC expansion project. The positive ripple effects will contribute to a more inclusive, connected and economically vibrant society.”
Pre-construction for the fiber expansion project is already underway and should be complete within the next 36 months. Visit the Manhattan WTC page to learn more.
