Agricultural research and advances in the Greater Manhattan region have been supported by many assets — government, private and nonprofit — for decades. And with 2023’s launch of the gold-standard National Bio and Agro-Defense Facility (NBAF) here, we will further cement our role as the anchor of the Kansas City Animal Health Corridor, stretching east from Manhattan through Kansas City to Columbia, Missouri. NBAF will make the Greater Manhattan region a critical research nexus for zoonotic diseases, animal health diagnostics and treatments, and preventative vaccines, bringing together public and private entities to combat the next global pandemic.
Some of our region's largest employers represent the animal health and science, biosecurity and food safety, and crop science, grain science, and milling industries. The possibilities for collaboration and co-location are limitless for companies in these fields.
